There are loads of prizes and prize money to be won, along with our historic trophy collection. Cash prizes are awarded as a proportion of entry fees received for first, second and third places. There’s also a $1,000 cash prize awarded by random draw to one skipper who enters before the early entry cut-off date. Plus there are loads of spot prizes to be won from our generous sponsors. But you must be at the Prizegiving ceremony to claim your prize!
Yes - our historic trophy collection is valued at nearly $100,000. Perhaps what’s most special about winning a race is that your name is engraved on the trophy and you become a part of nautical history - forever. The trophy collection is on permanent display at the Maritime Museum.
While there’s no official function after racing on Anniversary Day, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron welcomes regatta participants to come in for refreshments after racing. See our After-race function page for more details.
Prizegiving is usually held in mid February following the regatta, at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. It’s a fantastic night which all skippers and crews are invited to attend, and winners must RSVP and be present to claim spot prizes.
