Another hugely enjoyable Ports of Auckland Anniversary Regatta took place on Monday 27 January – thank you to everyone who enjoyed it with us, on the water, on shore and via our live stream on Facebook. Once the breeze filled in we saw great racing across the sailing fleets, while steam and paddle-powered competitors enjoyed great conditions for racing too.
This year saw an increase in entry numbers again, which is heartening to see, and it’s great to know the Anniversary Regatta is still important to Aucklanders. The organising committee would like to thank each and every one of you who took part for choosing to celebrate Auckland’s birthday on the water with us.
We would also like to extend a huge thank you to all who make this great event what it is – our hugely generous sponsors, particularly Ports of Auckland, Auckland Council and Hawaiian Airlines, along with all the companies who generously donated funds and spot prizes towards this year’s regatta.
Our thanks also go out to our organising committee and race officials, who kept everything running smoothly both on and off the water. And a big thank you to the Auckland Harbourmaster, Auckland Police Maritime Unit, Coastguard Northern Region, Royal New Zealand Navy, The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, and all the host clubs and associations around Auckland for your part in making this fantastic regatta a success once again.
Remember you are warmly invited to attend the Prizegiving ceremony at RNZYS on Tuesday 18 February, where our collection of historic trophies will be awarded, cash prizes handed out, and a huge selection of spot prizes will be given away too.
You’ve got to be there to win, so RSVP now to Joyce firstname.lastname@example.org to go in the spot prize draws, and remember to let us know how many in your party for catering purposes. We look forward to seeing you there.
